Well.....I say that a biological existence with pain is absolutely
necessary. There's the epistemological arguement for the Empiricist
arguement that we gain most of our knowledge from personal experiences in
the world, and for one to understand 'hot' or 'burn' one must experience
that burning sensation...which comes from signaling the nerves in the
organism from an 'extreme' heat source...wouldn't pain result? I guess, in
this sense, we would completely remove any comprehension of pain from our
existence...and the cause would soon become self-defeating because it would
work to elimate things in our lives that don't truly exist. The cause is met
and therefore unneeded...and that would spark investigation for the concept
of pain itself and it would once again be reinvented... Well, it's just a
thought.
As for emoptional pain, I'm almost certain that's about impossible to
remove without restricting a sense of mental freedom or such...
So, Walter, I wonder if biological existence without pain is truly
possible in reality, and if so, necessary.
