....i dont think the FIFA world cup is that tricky to understand; the sport
could be almost anything, but when you have a viewership of 2billion +
people watching the finals as they did in 98' something is wrong with you as
a person if you dont get at least a little bit interested in the competition
- it's about the most universal thing this side of pornography.
...i just love all the energy...so many people hanging on the edge of their
seats all over the world, suicides as a result of a loss, murders because of
an own-goal. single elimination, the world watching...this aint no silly
club football, this is the WORLD finals! no ex-pats playing for teams,
everyone goes home and plays for their country's pride or whatever. i
dunno, it just soooo huge, it's really easy to get caught up in the struggle
of any game, any two nations followers...millions and millions of them all
watching, screaming and crying. while football generally bores me because
of all the different leagues, clubs, championships, money trades etc. this
is truly different and i wouldnt miss it for the world. hell, i live in
L.A. and i really couldnt care less about the Lakers as soon as the world
cup started.
...the world is truly watching so i watch with it and feel one with it for a
time.

Yeh, I know the feeling. I'm never one to wave a flag, but there is a
difference between supporting your country because at the end of the day
it'll be a good party if we win the thing. And Dylan, I've got a
